Devon's DJ

Devon discovered her love of music ever since she could remember, although she believes it was there since the beginning. From falling asleep to songs on the radio, to singing in the car every time she went anywhere, music was instilled in her soul. Her dad was a music teacher, and always played pop-rock songs on the piano, and her mom would have the best tunes turned on in the truck, which only made her love for music grow even more. In high school, she played the trumpet, and was one of only two classmates to receive a band award — she even went to summer band camp at UBC.

Not only does she love to sing for fun and play instruments, she also has a passion to DJ. Ever since she was little, she used to record shows off the radio, and pretend to be the radio announcer. She was also the one selecting songs to play at get-togethers, and was told she had a knack for the mix of music she chose. At age 21, she began volunteering for CVUE FM for 4 years, and then got hired at CKAY FM, just 2 years later.

Given her love to sing, she absolutely loved karaoke, ever since she started singing it when she was still in elementary school. She got hired by Gilligan's Pub in late 2002 and hosted her own successful karaoke show for 3 years before saving up and moving to the city.

Music is Devon's life, along with family and friends, and she continues to DJ and sing where and when she can. She always wanted to be involved in anything music related, where people can dance together, sing along and come alive :)

You can see Devon at the Sea Cavalcade Family Street Dance, July 24th, 2010.
