Ruff Cut

The Ruff Cut Band

Doug Campbell, lead vocalist and keyboardist, was born on the Sunshine Coast and has always been singing and playing. He played trumpet, French and Eb horns in the Elphinstone School band and also taught himself to play drums, guitar and bass. Since high school Doug has played throughout BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan with various rock and country bands. He has also released two 45s and 2 CDs of original material recorded at his studio and engineered the Coast String Fiddlers first album.

Ken Shearsmith, guitars and vocals, started playing at the age of 15 in dance halls in the Fraser Valley. He played throughout BC before coming to the Sunshine Coast in 1976. He then joined local musician Rick Brown playing clubs from Alberta to Ontario before settling back down on the coast. Ken has now been playing with Doug in various groups since 1996.

Pat Shalapata, percussion and vocals, started singing and playing percussion on a local church worship team 14 years ago. She became a member of the Gospel Rock Revival Band with Doug and Ken 10 years ago and Ruff Cut 3 years ago. Pat grew up in the 60s and 70s and just loves the music.

Andy Amanovich, bassist, has spent 30 years as a recording engineer and musician playing pop, rock and jazz. He completed music theory and engineering training at VCC School of music, BCIT, Berklee College of Music and at major studios. Between gigs Andy is currently running his very own Oceanview Studios in Grantham's landing.

Pete Kerbis learned to play drums in the Elphinstone School band and he and Doug used to get together to jam. He has been banging the skins in local coast bands ever since and loves playing the blues and rock and roll.
