Road Closures
The 42nd Annual Sea Cavalcade will be held July 23rd, 24th and 25th. Road closures and no parking areas will be in effect to vehicular traffic in both Upper and Lower Gibsons areas. Expect delays; please use alternate detour routes.
Times for road closures are approximate. Roads will be re-opened to all traffic on a rolling schedule as the events progress.
Friday, July 23rd, 2010: Fireworks Event
All day and night
4:00pm to midnight
- ROAD CLOSURES – Gower Point Road from the intersection of School Road/Marine Drive to Winn Road — ALL parked vehicles must be removed.
4:30am to midnight
- NO PARKING AREA – Gower Point Road – Holland Park — The handicapped stalls at the north end of Holland park (opposite Winegarden bus shelter) will remain open and accessible.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE OF ALCOHOL!!
Saturday, July 24th, 2010: Parade
Morning to early afternoon
Parade Assembly Area 8:00am to noon
- Payne Road ONE WAY TRAFFIC from Reed Road to Venture Way. Local traffic ONLY, including parade floats and participants, until after parade has cleared the area.
- Venture Way ONE WAY TRAFFIC from the Blackfish Liquor Store (near Gibsons Way) to Payne Road. Local traffic ONLY, including parade floats and participants until after the parade has cleared the area.
9:30am to 1:30pm
- NO PARKING AREA – Gower Point Road from School Road/Marine Drive to Winn Road (Holland Park and Business Area).
10:30am to 1:30pm—FULL road closure: mile race and parade
- Sunshine Coast Highway 101/Gibsons Way from Veterans Road and Henry Road intersections to North Road/School Road intersection to Lower School Road/Marine Drive intersection — ALL parked vehicles must be removed before 10:30am.
- Gower Point Road from School Road/Marine Drive to intersection of Winn Road — ALL parked vehicles must be removed before 10:30am.
Saturday, July 24th, 2010: Street Dance
Late afternoon to midnight
4:00pm to midnight
- NO PARKING AREA – Gower Point Road Business Area - ALL parked vehicles must be removed.
- ROAD CLOSURES – Gower Point Road from the intersection of School Road/Marine Drive to Winn Road.
PLEASE NOTE: All parking in the Lower Gibsons area is very limited. We advise car pooling or taking Sunshine Coast Transit to Lower Gibsons. Please, don't park on School Road and don't block driveways on any roads or streets. Public parking on the Gibsons Wharf is restricted to parking permits only.

Due to road closures in Lower Gibsons, buses will be using Fletcher Road after 4:00pm on Friday, July 23rd and Saturday, July 24th, 2010.
During the parade on Saturday, July 24th, buses will operate via Henry Road, Reed Road and North Road to and from Langdale Terminal between 10:30am and 1:30pm. Flag stop procedures will be in effect on Henry Road and Reed Road.
